Some 39,352 international students enrolled to 330 intensive English programs in the US in the 2021 calendar year, IIE figures show.
Covid-19 has resulted in a 50% decline in international students attending US intensive English programs in 2020, Open Doors data has revealed.
The numbers of international students joining US intensive English programs fell by around 3.5% in 2019, with English USA revealing the "sobering" news that some 80 IEP programs have closed since 2017.
Difficult trading conditions in the last 12 months have contributed to a number of intensive English program closures and a dip in EnglishUSA membership re-enrolment figures.
